I-Rok Gems was formed in 2001 as a part-time jewelry business allowing owner Kori Jones to showcase her creative talents. In August of 2007 she decided to leave her career as a buyer for a small chain of bead stores to pursue a full-time career designing her own line of jewelry in Austin, TX. Utilizing her degree in Fine Arts from the University of Texas at San Antonio, Kori set out to create an innovative and sophisticated fall line entitled ‘The Italian Collection,’ which drew its inspiration from Venetian blown glass and a personal fondness for luxury stones. The collection encompassed colorful bold components with modern design characteristics that set it apart from the ordinary. With this new line Kori was voted one of the top 20 designers of Texas’ Top New Designer showcase 2007, hosted by the Dallas Fashion Incubator.
Since its inception I-Rok Gems has encountered a few changes including Kori’s husbands deployment to Iraq, the birth of their first child and a second on the way. While this has scaled back the development of I-Rok Gems some what, we continue to create new designs and look forward to the future. Currently you can find I-Rok Gems in a handful of Austin and San Antonio based retail shops. Also, look for our gems at upcoming trunk shows and other art venues in 2010.
