I-Rok Gems was formed in 2001. In the beginning the company functioned as a part-time jewelry business allowing owner Kori Jones to showcase her creative talents. In August of 2007 she decided to leave her career as a buyer for a small chain of bead stores to pursue a full-time career designing, manufacturing, and distributing her own line of jewelry in the Austin, TX area and beyond. Utilizing her degree in Fine Arts from the University of Texas at San Antonio, Kori set out to create an innovative and sophisticated fall line entitled ‘The Italian Collection,’ which draws from the Venetians love and craftsmanship of blowing glass as well as a personal fondness for luxury stones. The collection encompasses colorful bold components with modern design characteristics that set it apart from the ordinary.

While Kori was born and raised in California, it was in Texas that her passion for the arts grew. In 1992 she began her studies in sculpture and ceramics, during which time she also began making jewelry. Her work was first displayed in such art venues as the Blue Star in San Antonio, and local art fairs. Then in 2001 prompted by creative friendships Kori began working with other jewelers, referring to themselves as “The Muses”, to do group shows in both San Antonio and Austin. It was this development coupled with a new career as a bead buyer that catapulted her career to present day.

Since establishing herself as a full-time jewelry designer in August of this past year, Kori has sought many new opportunities including a Trunk Show with local Boutique, Adelante as well as being voted in the top 20 of Texas’ Top New Designer 2007 competition hosted by the Dallas Fashion Incubator. It is with great joy that she embarks on 2008 with a new line Earth, Water, Air and Fire to express the infinite goodness that is all around us.
